This Calls for Seconds!

Order up! Netflix’s Green Eggs and Ham: The Second Serving came out on April 8, 2022. Starring Michael Douglas, Adam Devine, Keegan-Michael Key, and Patrica Clarkson, this second season has been long-awaited. The show overall is based on books by Dr. Seuss, the primary one being Green Eggs and Ham. With a total of ten episodes, The Second Serving really lives up to notions of the first season. The majority of viewers seemed to have enjoyed the show as a whole.

This season begins with protagonist Sam I-Am’s continuous search for his mother. As explained in the previous season, he was orphaned at a very young age with his only memory being having breakfast with his mother. Yes, when trying to recall his past life, he only remembered that he adored his mother’s green eggs and ham recipe. That’s why he kept trying them here, there, and everywhere, hoping to find his mom and ask her why she gave him up. He finally found a match of taste in the final episode of season one. With the only clue being the origin of the eggs, the gang — who met because of the delectable food — go on this incredible journey to try to reunite their friend with his mother. Of course, Sam gets to see his mother again, and he learns that she’s an international super spy on an incredibly important mission. The crew slowly goes on their own adventures as Sam attempts to make up for lost time with his mom. As the season goes on, more suspense and nostalgia is brought as well as comedy, adventure, and romance.

This television series takes all the small context from the Dr. Seuss book and evolves it into quite a ride. It surprisingly has everything you could want from a good show, and The Second Serving really comes back with more humor, mystery, love, and excitement. It is incredibly thrilling to binge watch. It even keeps the moral given in the book and ties it with other life lessons like never judge a book by its cover, love is all you need, and never give up on your goals. The second season was very well made and beautifully laid out, just like the first season. This series is perfect for the whole family to enjoy during a chill weekend.

Before watching The Second Serving, you must watch the first season, obviously. So, if you haven’t already, you should try Green Eggs and Ham, especially if you’re into animation, heartfelt stories, hilarious characters, and Dr. Seuss’ work. Well, that's it for now!
